When I sat down to write a book on Direct Release Myofascial Technique I knew I could do two things really well –successfully teach the method, something I’d been doing for almost 20 years, and develop highly regarded workbooks for those classes.

With these two essential components in place, I knew I had the basis for a book and so did the editors at Churchill-Livingstone. We wanted a book that would be a resource for the beginner as well as stimulate intermediate and advanced practitioners.

And that’s what I wrote – a book with a lot of highly useful techniques, a well-researched hypothetical model, hints on economy of effort for the therapist (essential if we’re to have longevity in our professions) and a few philosophical moments as well. It’s all paid off – the book has been incredibly well received and favorably reviewed on 4 continents!

“ This is a delectably well-written initiation into a powerful and potentially profound method of treatment. Stanborough artfully weaves the related threads of technique, practitioner and client into a composition that is both pleasing and succinct. This book is invaluable to those who want to learn more about using their hands and perhaps their souls too.”

— Sue Mirkin, MSc, Physiotherapist. New Zealand.
